Training and Extension

Training and Extension (T &E) activities are one of the core functions of AICAD,  aimed at giving people need driven skills and knowledge for socio economic development in the African region. Training is carried out at grassroots, in-country and regional levels. AICAD conducts need-driven training programmes that target beneficiaries that are carefully selected to ensure maximum return for both those trained and the groups from which they are drawn.

T &E programmes draw from Research and Development (R & D) activities in addition to the needs established within the community. The trainings involve workshops, seminars and short modules ranging from 3 days to 5 weeks. Extension is carried out through collaborating ministries and institutions, and also monitoring activities.

AICAD programmes are unique because they draw on expertise form across section of the institutions of excellence in the region: the public sector, NGOs, private institutions, CBOs who collaborate in the identification of needs, programme development, execution and follow up.
