Prof. Andrew B. Gidamis

Prof. Andrew B. Gidamis is the Executive Director of the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD) based in Juja, Kenya, since 2003. He is from Tanzanian and was formerly a Professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania.  He is a holder of BSc, MSc and PhD in Agricultural Biotechnology obtained from Kyoto University, Japan. He has almost 20 years teaching and research experiences in academia at SUA. He has published extensively in peer refereed journals. He gained administrative experience as the Head of department for six years at SUA and managerial experience, coordinating and organizing the meetings of the decision-making bodies in AICAD. As the Chief Executive Officer of AICAD, he is responsible for overall administrative and managerial duties at the Headquarters and Country Offices. He is also responsible for liaising with the three East African governments of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and the Government of Japan through Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) in running the AICAD programmes.
